This journey is certainly a happy one. We're enjoying every minute of this adventure.Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.comBlogger179125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-77421092448375299022014-08-06T20:57:00.000-07:002014-08-06T20:57:18.235-07:00I'm Baaaack!It's been quite some time since I've posted anything. I have quite a difficult time managing my work and home responsibilities. I decided it was time to post some highlights of recent months. We were able to go to NY this summer and visit family. The girls all love traveling and spending time in NY. Scott and I had the opportunity to do a couple of things without kids, too. We went to the Finger Lakes for a trail race then went wine tasting. The next day, we went to the city to see my Mets. It was a perfect day for baseball. I loved it! We really enjoyed having family to watch the kids. We rarely ever get time alone together in AZ.
Once we returned to AZ from NY, we started getting ready for school to begin. I started back to work on July 21. The girls started school on August 4. Ryann is now in 2nd grade,

and Avery is in KINDERGARTEN! It's amazing how quickly time passes. Before long, my little Ashtyn Belle will head to school too. I'm enjoying her as a 2 year old. I'm in no hurry for her to grow up. Overall, things are going very well. Scott and I are busy with our jobs and the kids are busy too. Avery is beginning dance and gymnastics class soon. Ryann is going to try her hand at baseball. All three of them will go back to swimming lessons this fall. All of this keeps us on the go, but life is good.

Six months ago, the dentist told Ryann that she needed to try to wiggle her teeth because the x-rays showed adult teeth coming underneath them. We tried, but the teeth weren't the slightest bit loose. Last weekend, we discovered this situation in Ryann's mouth. Ryann promptly wrote a letter to the tooth fairy, just to warn her that she might be needed soon. She left it under her pillow, and the tooth fairy came and got it!

After multiple calls to try to find an appointment that I could get her to with my work schedule, she is now down 4 teeth.

It was a fairly quick process, but took some work. Those teeth had no intention of coming out. Apparently the roots dissolve when it's time for them to come out. These all have complete roots.

Ryann now has 4 gaping holes in her gums. She also has 4 shiny gold dollar coins. The tooth fairy came to our house for the first time. She left Ryann a note, complete with fairy dust, along with her coins. It was quite a big event.

It was superhero day at school. She was a real super hero herself. She was very cooperative, and didn't whine at all. Overall, it hasn't phased her a bit.

There have been all sorts of changes in our school district as far as staffing goes. Principals were scrambled, new Assistant Principals were hired, and tons of new teachers are still being hired. At my school, our principal was moved to another school. Our assistant principal became the principal, and one of our master teachers became the assistant principal. She had also been the site director of the after school program that I help coordinate. As an AP, she won't have time to do the after school program, so they decided to bring me back! I transferred to another school and back without ever having to move my stuff. :0)
We just got the official word on Wednesday. I'm excited to remain part of the community that I've been in for 8 years and Ryann has become a part of. However, I was looking forward to a change of scenery. I'm sure that might come somewhere down the road. Staying where I am is the best choice for now. I'm excited to stay on my leadership team and take on a new role.

I officially begin my journey as a master teacher on July 24, even though I'll be training and preparing all summer. I'm excited to see how it goes.
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-78876979996581180072013-06-14T08:11:00.001-07:002013-06-14T08:18:58.202-07:00Birthday SeasonIn our family, spring is more accurately referred to as birthday season. It kicks off with Scott's birthday on March 18. Ashtyn is March 28th. I posted pics of that previously. Avery's birthday is May 2, but we celebrated the last week in April this year. We had a Strawberry Shortcake party for her at the house. We had lots of daycare friends and a bounce house. Ryann's turn was next. She turned 6 on the 16th of May. On the 18th, we had a party at Build-a-Bear Workshop. She had 4 friends and Avery join her in making furry friends. It was really a great time.
In addition to our family birthdays, we have several friends with birthdays around the same time. So, in conjunction with party planning, we shop for gifts and attend other parties. It's a busy (and expensive) time of year. Once Ryann's birthday was done, I took a big sigh of relief. Birthday season is exhausting. Somehow, I do love it, though.

Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0Avondale Avondale33.447781 -112.293006tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-40812001432293397442013-04-06T08:27:00.001-07:002013-12-27T21:44:11.384-08:00Career NewsFor the past eight years I've been at a school that I have really liked. I've met some awesome friends and had some great experiences. I taught special education resource for 2 years, then third grade for 6 years. These last 2 years, I've been a Mentor Teacher and a coordinator for our after school program. I've really enjoyed each role, but doing so much has burned me out. My time with family has definitely suffered. I've decided to make a career move.

I've just been hired to be a Master Teacher at another school in our district, starting next school year. It'll be good because it'll be much more focused. I'll be doing a lot of the same things I did as a Mentor, but without a classroom of kids to be responsible for. I'm looking forward to a new challenge, but I'll really miss my peeps at my old school.

I haven't decided if Ryann will go with me or continue at the school she's known since birth. I guess we'll figure that out before August.Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-67110165382994872162013-04-06T08:14:00.001-07:002013-04-06T08:15:47.597-07:00Our Baby is One!I guess she's technically not a baby anymore. Ashtyn turned one year old on March 28th. We had her first birthday party on the 23rd. It was nice because her Uncle Keelan, Aunt Kirsten, and cousin Kaida Mai were in town to celebrate with us. We also had some great friends, our Arizona family, come as well.

Since it was so close to Easter, we decided on a bunny birthday. It was cute. She's our little snuggle bunny. I even tried my hand at making cake pops. They were suppose to be carrots, but Scott said they looked like orange strawberries. Oh well.
Ashtyn clearly loved the cake. She was happy to eat the frosting at first, but she soon made light work of a huge carrot cake cupcake. She smelled like cream cheese icing all evening.

She is such a big girl now. She walks pretty well, although she did take a tumble the day before her first birthday pictures. She has a big scratch on her head. Most of the time, she's a very happy girl. She's giggly and smiley, especially when she's into mischief, like I said, most of the time.

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-44345365921879930412013-02-01T19:53:00.001-08:002013-02-01T20:00:47.263-08:00Long Time No PostI was reminded today of what a slacker I have been with the blog. I haven't posted anything since November. Ugh! Where does the time go?!
A few highlights from the last couple of months include Ashtyn's first Christmas, my National Board Certification, and Scott finishing another marathon. Here are some pictures of our last couple of months.
We had our friends come over. We each made some things for dinner. We ate a lot and just had a relaxing day.
Ashtyn got to wear the same Thanksgiving outfit her sisters wore. She seemed to like it. She's our little turkey.

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-27279111807014551702012-11-11T05:54:00.001-08:002012-11-11T06:10:26.392-08:00Fall Has Arrived in AZThis morning was the first morning that my feet were cold on the bathroom tiles. I guess fall has finally found AZ. It was still in the 90s at the beginning of the week, but the temperature now is 43! That's a big difference.
I thought I'd share some fall photos for the occasion. It's great to be outside in the fall in AZ. We went to the zoo. Avery and Ryann rode the camel together this year. They also like riding bikes and playing in the park behind our house.
Halloween was fun. It was Ashtyn's first one. We crammed her into the same pea pod suit that her sisters wore, even though she's more than a month older than they were at Halloween. :0) Grandma was here for Halloween this year. After trick-or-treating, Ryann & Avery helped her pass out candy. They seem to have eaten quite a bit too.
Ashtyn's fall news includes 4 teeth and being able to pull herself up and stand. She's become a cruiser. She loves to get into trouble. She can crawl, but it's new to her so she prefers to drag her belly on the floor and go as fast as she can to the nearest thing she shouldn't have. It keeps her sisters' messes in check. They're always trying to keep their stuff away from Baby.
She's officially six months old. I can't believe how fast she's growing up. She can hold her bottle, sit up for a little while, and almost crawl. When she sees something she wants, she gets there. It's not a typical crawl, but she's getting there. We're going to introduce the pack-n-play to keep her out of trouble. She goes to the doctor in a week. I can't wait to see her new stats.<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-49497568472985484372012-09-23T17:10:00.001-07:002012-09-23T17:12:02.315-07:00High Chair TimeAshtyn is getting to be such a big girl. I've started letting her sit in the high chair now. She's too much trouble in the Bumbo seat now. She likes to squirm and twist and grab everything in sight. This is her sitting with me while I work. Sunday afternoons are usually work time in our dining room. She keeps me company sitting or swinging.<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-34705758139428460872012-08-10T21:21:00.001-07:002012-08-10T21:25:34.692-07:00Ashtyn at Four MonthsI took Ashtyn for her four month check up last week. She weighed 15 lbs 5 oz. That puts her in the 84th percentile for weight. The doctor said to her, "you like to eat!" We've started her on baby cereal now. She isn't great at eating yet. She only gets 3/4 of it down each time. Maybe once she eats food better it'll help slim her down a bit. She's gone to the 76th percentile in height so that's better. If she has anything to say about it, she'll crawl soon. She rolls to her tummy within seconds of being placed in her gym. Then she propels herself forward with her legs. It can be rough on her face since she doesn't really use her arms yet. She doesn't seem to mind. She just wants to get moving. I think she's just the cutest. She's always happy and has a way of melting my heart with her big slobbery, toothless grin. She's awesome.<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-46010064554877309732012-08-10T21:08:00.001-07:002012-09-23T17:13:00.654-07:00First Week of KindergartenOur little RyRy is now in school. She is an official kindergarten student at my school. It's a little strange for me as my worlds collide. She seems to like it.

After the first day, she explained to us that she has manners now, follows rules, and can spell the word "red." I guess we should've sent her to kindergarten a long time ago. :0)

The only problem is her comfort level at my school. She acts like she's at home sometimes. She's been spending time there with me since she was born. Today her teacher wanted to talk to me after school about her running around and being loud in class at the end of the day. She was apparently off the wall. It sounds like a typical day at home to me. We need to work on separating home and school. I guess keeping her there 12 hours some days doesn't help. :0(

I guess we'll figure it all out. We've never been kindergarten parents before. I did attend my first PTO meeting as a teacher/parent this week. Weird!<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-16699507600714306442012-07-28T21:27:00.001-07:002012-07-28T21:28:10.244-07:00HaircutsRyann and I went to get our back-to-school haircuts together today. She was very concerned about her hair being cut too short. She didn't want to look like a boy. We ended up cutting about 4 inches off and she definitely still looks like a girl. It may not look like much of a change, but it was big for her. I think it's much neater looking. She's all ready for kindergarten now.<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-80463256328853271332012-07-21T10:21:00.001-07:002012-07-21T10:22:27.411-07:00Monster Part IINot only did our summer dance classes create a monster, swim lessons created two monsters.
Ryann and Avery finished their 8th swimming lesson on Thursday. It was the most progress I'd seen so far. I debated trying to continue them, but with school starting and finances limited, we decided against it.
Scott took them in the pool yesterday and they wanted to practice. I was impressed that they were doing things without their teacher. Here are pics of their back floats. The scary part is when they want to swim from place to place alone. Ryann kept swimming to Scott without warning him. Avery tried to copy Ryann by swimming to the step but was under too long. They haven't figured out how to come up for air yet. They scare me, but I'm glad they've made progress. We'll have to keep working at it.<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-84061090314607633712012-07-21T10:09:00.001-07:002012-07-21T10:10:36.645-07:00Kids Are FunnyMy poor kids are going to get a complex from me laughing at them. This is a picture of Ryann and her "old maid vegetable soup." She also made "old maid applesauce like Grandma makes." I giggled and asked her to repeat what she said. She asked what I was laughing at. I tried to explain to her about "homemade" cooking. If nothing else, kids are entertaining.<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-21360045064660814212012-07-13T14:42:00.001-07:002012-07-13T14:44:54.572-07:00We Created A MonsterLast week was "bring a friend week" at dance class. Ryann grudgingly let her sister come. Now, Avery asks every day if she's going to dance class today. Ugh... So much for one at a time. I called and got her signed up today for the remaining month of the summer season. These girls' hobbies are going to break the bank. :0)<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-55689709398804678702012-07-13T14:36:00.001-07:002012-07-13T14:36:36.475-07:00Swimming LessonsScott and I have been wanting the girls to take swimming lessons, especially since we have the pool now. Every time I looked into it, we either had no money or the schedule didn't work. Well, I finally got serious and started searching for something to get them started. The YMCA classes were all full so I called Hubbard Family Swim School. I was surprised to find out that the cost was similar and they had openings! The schedule is perfect. The girls go 30 min. each day for 4 days. I signed them up for 2 weeks so we'll be done before I go back to work. I know they won't be real swimmers by then, but it's a start. It's like 8 weeks worth of Saturdays without the stress of working in between. :0)
Avery does whatever the teacher tells her and she had fewer skills to start so she seems to be making more progress. Ryann is very timid in the water so it'll take time. I'm just glad we got them started. We can build from here.<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-27448575307388222312012-07-02T19:07:00.000-07:002012-07-04T18:58:14.048-07:00Little DancerRyann has begun taking dance classes at The Little Gym. She really likes it so far. Her class includes tap, ballet, and gymnastics. Sometimes she spends a little too much time looking in the mirror so she misses the teacher's instruction, but she does ok. I'm happy that she isn't too shy to talk or participate. I think she's getting better about that. She may not have a lot of skill yet, but she looks super cute in her dance outfit. She'd better. Those shoes might make us bankrupt if she continues to dance and grow.<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1545604969086626886.post-85713803467608682252012-07-02T18:56:00.003-07:002012-07-02T19:06:37.115-07:00Three Months Already!

Ashtyn is 3 months old already. Where has the time gone? She JUST started sleeping through the night on a regular basis. I feel like she's still a newborn. I guess not, since she has now outgrown her newborn clothes. Overall, she's very happy and smiley. She is pretty entertained by her sisters. I spend most of my time trying to keep the two of them off her. They are constantly hugging her, kissing her, patting her, poking her, and so on. After she was sick when she was so small, I've become a bit paranoid about the kids sharing their germs with her. We took her for her 3 month pictures today. The other two were maniacs. Avery even ate a gummy thing she found on the floor. I had to wrestle her to get it back. Maybe there's still hope for Ashtyn. :0)
Life with 3 kids is quite an adventure. I'm off for the next 3 1/2 weeks. Whether or not my sanity will be intact by the time I go back to work is questionable.Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01341764171375134606noreply@blogger.com0
